McQuarrie has just signed on for 7 and 8, which is a bad move in my opinion, good for McQuarrie in the money sense, but bad to attempt more after Rogue Nation and Fallout. Cruise once again brings us insane stunt work and some of these will have you looking away. You have to give it to him, he can really entertain. This sequel is a great follow-up to Rogue Nation, a direct sequel and it delivers on the action, but not a good ending.
I was hoping they might return to a more espionage style film for the sequels, but that won't be the case with McQuarrie. This was a nice closure to number 3, and it leaves the door open for more development.
